Ten ways to spoil your Mum on Mother’s Day

There’s always a last-minute scramble for ideas of how to spoil Mum on Mother’s Day. So with the big day just around the corner, we’ve put together a list of things you can do to spoil Mum. Whatever her preference in gifts, hobbies or life experiences, here’s ten suggestions that she’ll love.

  1. Take her out to a restaurant. It can be Mum’s local favourite, where the food and service can be relied upon, or take a chance and go to somewhere different. The new place may soon become an old favourite!
  2. Plan a family day at a local picnic site. Getting the family together in one place can be difficult. One way to make it easy is to get them to BYO to a local park or picnic venue. Easy, affordable and Mum’ll love the outdoor setting.
  3. Don’t forget the flowers! Essential. See #7.
  4. Theatre/live event. Keep an eye out for any theatre shows or live events that Mum may be interested in. A great idea for a spectacular Mother’s Day.
  5. Bushwalking. Is your Mum the outdoor type? One who prefers getting out and enjoying the great Australian Outdoors? Get the family together and take Mum for a lively bushwalk and picnic in one of our superb National Parks.
  6. Museum/art gallery. For something different, why not take Mum into the city or regional town and enjoy the art galleries and museums? Organise to have a bit of lunch surrounded by classic paintings or historic artifacts.
  7. Botanical gardens. A perennial favourite and a great way to get around the flowers gift! (see #3).
  8. Sport. Is your Mum a sports fan? What better way for her to celebrate the day than with a trip to watch some sports action.
  9. Quiet one at home. If, like most Mums, a bit of peace and quiet is top of her list, then a nice, relaxing day at home surrounded by family is a great way to spend the day.
  10. All of the above. Why not? It’ll be a action-packed, dusk-to-dawn, laugh-a-minute day (maybe few days) that Mum’ll never forget!

Mother’s Day is very special on the Australian calendar as we take time out to thank the Mums of the nation for their love, selflessness and sheer hard work. Do you have any other activities that you’d like to add to the above list? Please let us know.
